Incidental Wear Course
The Wear Course Premise:
As educators, who are passionate about restorative dentistry, this is the course we have always wanted to write. The course will run through the fundamentals of how to diagnose, take appropriate records, plan and transfer tooth wear cases.
While the fundamentals of how to manage tooth wear haven’t changed too much over the decades the materials and methods used have evolved enormously. In this course we will provide a historical context for analogue methods used in the past and best practice analogue workflows today. We will also full embrace and showcase how we implement digital workflows and transfer techniques on a daily basis.
This course will take place over two 3 day modules:
Module 1: Assessment, Records and Facially Generated Treatment Planning
Module 2: Transfer techniques, Case discussion, Compromises and Complications
The course will be written and delivered by Alan Burgin, Chris O'Connor, Ollie Bailey and Colin McGurik.
As anyone who has done one of our courses knows we invest heavily in the practical sessions we run and this course is no exception. The course will allow delegates the chance to fully plan real life cases with both a digital and analogue workflows and will teach a multitude of transfer techniques including injection moulding, semi indirect, indirect composite shells, additive indirect composites, direct palatal shells and fully direct.
We will be sharing our experience and tips for managing tooth wear cases in primary and secondary care and there will be considerable time devoted to case discussions and reflections to consolidate learning.
This course is suitable for Dentists and assumes a reasonable mastery of single tooth restorative dentistry. While we do not insist that delegates have completed our direct and indirect programmes to take this course they (or similar equivalent courses) are advisable.
Practical Exercises Covered:
Examination for tooth wear cases
Smile design
Recording and mounting analogue facebows/ DFA
Recording and mounting analogue CR records using a variety of techniques
Digital techniques for recording and mounting casts in CR

This 6 day course is associated with 42 hours Verifiable CPD.
Course places are limited to small groups and we hope to run the course at least annually.
