Why Incidental Training?

Incidental Training is known for providing; high quality, multi speaker, scenario based, hands-on dental courses.

Although the origins of incidental training date back to 2011 we started delivering courses in our new format in September 2021.

We launched with ‘The Incidental Direct Composite Course’ and this proved to be very popular with delegates. We are so proud of the many testimonials we have received and we hope you can spare some time to review them. Hopefully you might recognise someone you know so you can find out a little more.

It’s hard to exactly put a finger on why our courses have proved successful but we think it might be due to the considerable effort and resource we put into designing all our course practicals so that they really reinforce the theoretical learning provided. It could also be our established teaching and research backgrounds that helped us to provide evidence based courses that are easy to digest and designed to serve a number of learning styles. Finally we think it might be because the courses aim to show straightforward techniques that can be mastered and implemented by all dental professionals. Our courses are not focussed on the final flourishes that are hard to provide outside the most rarified environments, instead we focus on providing solid, functional dentistry in realistic timeframes using affordable equipment.

In Spring 2023 we launched our first bespoke phantom head training centre in Newcastle Upon Tyne and a new, ‘The Incidental Indirect Course’. The ‘Indirect course’ picks up where the direct composite course left off (although you can do them in either order) and covers classic conventional crowns, adhesive onlays and veneers and vertical margin crowns. The new Indirect course has proved a huge success and again we were delighted by the positive feedback and testimonials we have received.

In 2024 we have added ‘capture’ a one day photography course which is designed to give the GDP all the training they need to produce high quality clinical images for patient records, communication and presentations.
